PLANTA 120/150 DE ALTURA EN CONTENEDOR DE 6,5 LITROS

Planta: Árbol bajo, de 7-20 metros de altura, generalmente ramificado en su base. Sistema radicular: En condiciones favorables (suelos arenosos bien drenados), el árbol puede desarrollar un sistema de raíces laterales extensas y una raíz pivotante profunda. Flores: Se presentan en corimbos en un lado en las ramas de una terminal; son erectas, corimbiformes, anchas, fragantes, con flores bisexuales y masculinas presentándose intermezcladas; el panículo es de 15-85 cm de largo. Fruto: Son nueces profundamente reniformes, marginadas en un lado y marcadas ahí con una cicatríz que ha dejado el estilo, de una semilla, de color verde-grisáceo, de brillo tenue, de 2,5-3 cm de largo y 2-2,5 cm de ancho. La nuez tiene forma de pera, carnosa, de color amarillo o rojo y brillante; el pedicelio, o la manzana del marañón es de 4-8 cm de largo y 4-6 cm de grueso.

English : Plant:  Low tree, 7-20 m tall, usually branched at the base.  Root system:  Under favourable conditions (well-drained sandy soils) the tree can develop an extensive lateral root system and a deep taproot. Flowers : Arising  in corymbs on one side on terminal branches, erect, corymbiform, broad, fragrant, with bisexual and male flowers interspersed; the panicle is 15-85 cm long.  Fruit:  Deeply reniform nuts, marginated on one side and marked there with a scar left by the style, one-seeded, greyish-green in colour, with a faint shine, 2.5-3 cm long and 2-2.5 cm wide. The nut is pear-shaped, fleshy, yellow or red in colour and shiny; The pedicel, or apple of the cashew, is 4-8 cm long and 4-6 cm thick.
