Ziziphus lotus. Variedad común sin injertar, conocido como azufaifo, azufaifa, azofeifa ó jinjolero.

Este arbusto alcanza una altura de entre 1 y 4 metros. Si no se poda sus ramas se entrelazan formando una maraña impenetrable ideal para proteger cercados y vallas. Por medio de poda se puede conseguir la forma de un pequeño árbol, con un único pie, que al ser injertado en variedades mejoradas pierde gran parte de las espinas que lo caracterizan y se obtienen frutos de mayor diámetro y calidad gustativa. Su tronco y ramas son retorcidos, en forma de zigzag, presentando estas últimas un color grisáceo-blanquecino.

Ziziphus lotus.  Common ungrafted variety, known as jujube tree, jujube, jujube tree or jujube tree.

This shrub reaches a height of between 1 and 4 metres. If not pruned, its branches intertwine, forming an impenetrable tangle, ideal for protecting fences and enclosures. Pruning can give it the shape of a small tree with a single stem, which, when grafted onto improved varieties, loses most of its characteristic thorns and produces fruits with a larger diameter and better taste. Its trunk and branches are twisted in a zigzag shape, the latter having a greyish-white colour.
