La Garcinia Brasiliensis o Bacupari es un árbol tropical de Brasil, de crecimiento inicial algo lento, a partir de los 4/5 años acelera su crecimiento vegetativo, entra en producción sobre los 7 años de edad. La fruta se come al natural cortando la cascara con los dientes o con cuchillo para evitar su látex. La pulpa tiene un sabor excelente agridulce y muy parecido al mangostán, para obtener el mejor sabor es preferible esperar a una maduración total cuando la cascara es de color rojizo. Al igual que su hermano de familia el mangostán se le atribuyen numerosos beneficios para la salud incluso efectos protectores contra el cáncer.

Garcinia Brasiliensis or Bacupari is a tropical tree from Brazil, with a slow initial growth, after 4/5 years its vegetative growth accelerates, and it begins to produce at about 7 years of age. The fruit is eaten naturally, cutting the peel with your teeth or a knife to avoid its latex. The pulp has an excellent sweet and sour taste and is very similar to the mangosteen. To obtain the best flavour it is preferable to wait until it is fully ripe when the peel is reddish in colour. Like its family brother, the mangosteen, it is credited with numerous health benefits, including protective effects against cancer.
