También conocido como huevo de toro, es una fruta tropical originaria de México y América Central. Fruta de tamaño pequeño, de forma ovalada y de color amarillo anaranjado. La cáscara es delgada y se puede quitar fácilmente para revelar una pulpa cremosa de color amarillo anaranjado.

Tiene un sabor dulce y cremoso que recuerda al huevo duro, de ahí su nombre.

Rica en vitaminas, minerales y fibra. Es una buena fuente de vitamina C, potasio y fibra. Contiene pequeñas cantidades de vitamina A, vitamina B6, ácido fólico y magnesio.
